Whether you’re going to university for the first year this fall or heading back to school for your second or third year, you can never be too prepared.  As summer draws to a close, it’s time to start thinking about not only what to bring with you to college, but also what you can do to make the coming year as successful and enjoyable as possible.

Here are  5 Back to School Tips for College and University Students from The RentSeeker.ca Team for all you Students and Happy #BacktoSchool Year!

Student Living Tips by RentSeeker.ca

1. Snag a sweet living spot on campus

Student housing has come a long way over the years, and dorm rooms can be
great places to live during the semester. They are incredibly convenient— like, you can walk to class— and are good places to meet people and make new friends. Check out Student Services at your school to find out more about your student housing options.

2. Find the perfect rental off-‐campus

Finding a rental near your school can be challenging, but the search will be
easier if you have a solid idea of what you are looking for. When you have classes at 8 am Friday mornings, a short commute is probably going to be high on your “must have” list.

Remember to consider things like potential roommates, outdoor living space, covered parking, and storage. Visit an apartment finder site like RentSeeker.ca to easily search for the perfect apartment and help find the perfect student rental.

3. Make the most of your space

Dorm rooms and first-‐time apartments can be a little cramped. Instead of
trying to balance your desk on the T.V. stand, use space saving tricks to make
the most of what you have.

Try finding multiple uses for a few key pieces of furniture. A small kitchen table can go from eating area to workspace, an ottoman coffee table offers great storage, and a wire shelf rack can easily stand in for a pantry.

4. Shop savvy when it comes to furniture.

You need to put something in your dorm room or apartment, so your
furniture might as well be both aesthetically appealing and useful. Try shopping at stores that cater to small living spaces — Ikea, Bouclair Home, and Urban Barn all feature space-‐saving furniture and cool accessories that are easy on student wallets.

5. Get a time-‐saving gadget

After a long week of classes, studying, and the occasional all-‐nighter, who has
time for a trip to the Laundromat? If you don’t have a washer and dryer in your dorm or apartment, pick up The Laundry Pod for an environmentally friendly and easy way to wash your clothes. You won’t even have to pause Game of Thrones!
